Laura Hamilton received her B.S. in Animal Sciences, with a concentration in Equine, from the University of Vermont. After graduation in 2000, she worked for a little over a year at a couple of horse farms in Nebraska while her husband was teaching at the University of Nebraska at Omaha; she even led overnight camp-outs at the famous Henry Doorly Zoo! Laura and her husband then moved back to Vermont, when she worked for three years as the Equine Specialist at the UVM Morgan Horse Farm in Weybridge, VT, where she supervised and trained 5-6 apprentices in a year-long program and also performed many other duties, including breeding, training, care and management of a 70+ herd. She rode hunt seat, saddle seat, dressage, western, and did driving of horses, both in cart and sleigh. Since then, she has struck out on her own, working free lance for numerous barns in Vermont, including Ellen Miller Riding School in Charlotte and Breckenridge Farm in Barre. In 2008, she performed with other candidates from throughout the state at a dressage demonstration for the Mozart Festival at Shelburne Farms.  She also worked at Camp Teela-Wooket as the Assistant riding director and rented the facilities over the winter to start her own training and teaching business.  She is now working out of her own farm in Roxbury, Firefly Farm.
